If you’ve ever struggled with making a strong backswing, one that actually sets you up to deliver the club with power and consistency, there’s a good chance your pivot motion may have something to do with it.

The video below is some footage of me battling through my swing tendencies on the range, and talking through what they are.

One of the biggest things I wish I’d understood earlier is just how much the pivot, your turn, tilt, extension, and sway, influences everything else: swing plane, club path, arm structure, wrist angles, and more, all leading to distance and accuracy.

(That’s the main reason I share, to hopefully help another player facing similar challenges.)

In this session, I’m using the Tour Striker SmartBall to work on and feel an improved pivot motion.
For me, that means:

  • Feeling my knees change flex
  • Learning how to rotate my torso while staying centered
  • Which then leads to better arm structure and wrist angles as a result.

Early on, I would work from the outside in, trying to place and force the club into certain positions. But to create a swing that feels repeatable and efficient, it has to start from the inside out.

Hope this helps you get closer to the root causes in your own swing. 👊
