Managing Thrust

Managing the thrust of the trail leg and trail hip toward the ball has a significant influence on our ability to stay in posture and zero out both the swing path and hand path. When this movement is not controlled, it can cause the centre of mass of the club to work too far under the plane, often creating hook and push ball flights. When managed effectively, it allows the body to rotate without excessive extension or an early push toward the ball.

I captured this video of DP World Tour player Marcus Helligkilde at Valderrama, it provides a great example of a player who manages these characteristics exceptionally well.
